On the 12th of July 2024, Helping Everyone Live and Prosper Society (HELP Society), in collaboration with MoneyWise – Centre for Financial Literacy and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), hosted a one-day Financial Literacy Awareness Programme alongside celebrated the 43rd Foundation Day of NABARD at Haflong Hill Old Railway Station Village.

Empowering Women Through Financial Literacy
The program’s primary goal was to enhance financial literacy among women in the community. It focused on crucial topics such as financial planning, social security schemes, and initiatives like Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Joint Liability Groups (JLG), MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency), and Startup India. By providing comprehensive information on these subjects, the event aimed to equip women with the knowledge and resources necessary to make informed financial decisions and take control of their financial futures.
The event was honored by notable dignitaries, including Shri S Amarjeet Mangang, District Development Manager of NABARD, Miss Iteule Newme, Central Manager of CFL, and Shri Surojeet Das President of HELP Society. Their insights and expertise greatly enriched the program, offering attendees a deeper understanding of the financial tools and schemes available to them.
In addition to the dignitaries, the event saw enthusiastic participation from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Gaon Burhas (GBs), highlighting the community’s commitment to fostering a financially literate and empowered society.

- Financial Planning: Participants were introduced to the basics of financial planning, emphasizing the importance of budgeting, saving, and investing. - Kisan Credit Card (KCC): The KCC session focused on educating farmers about the benefits and application process of the Kisan Credit Card scheme. This initiative provides farmers with timely access to credit for agricultural needs, ensuring that they have the necessary financial support to enhance productivity and manage their operations effectively.
- Joint Liability Groups (JLG): The session on JLGs highlighted the advantages of forming Joint Liability Groups for collective borrowing and financial support among rural women.
