Haflong, Dima Hasao – May 2025: The Third Edition of Trivia Fest 2025, organized by Helping Everyone Live and Prosper Society (HELP Society), unfolded as a vibrant, multi-day celebration of education, sports, environment, and cultural heritage. Trivia Fest 2025 marked a vibrant celebration of intellect, culture, environmental awareness, and youthful energy in the heart of Dima Hasao. With a dynamic blend of literary competitions, sports events, artistic showcases, and community-driven initiatives, Trivia Fest 2025 not only inspired the youth of Dima Hasao but also reaffirmed the power of unity, creativity, and knowledge-sharing.
Held for three days, the festival brought together students, dignitaries, civil society organizations, and community leaders in a truly inclusive and inspiring event that blended educational pursuits with environmental responsibility and cultural pride.
Cherry Blossom Plantation Drive – Inauguration of Trivia Fest 2025 – Third Edition
Trivia Fest 2025—Third Edition was officially inaugurated with a Cherry Blossom Plantation Drive near the scenic Tularam Amphitheatre, Haflong, held on the 14th May 2025, setting a thoughtful and symbolic tone for the days to follow. This green beginning marked the perfect fusion of environmental stewardship and intellectual celebration, embodying the core values of the HELP Society.
The plantation drive reflected HELP Society’s unwavering commitment to building a greener and more thoughtful future, promoting the idea that nurturing nature is as important as nurturing young minds.
This inaugural initiative was made possible with the active collaboration and support of:
- Blue Hills Society, for providing fencing to protect the saplings
- Meghalaya Forest & Environment Department, for contributing beautiful cherry blossom saplings
- Dima Hasao Forest Department, for offering vital logistics and technical support
- Dima Hasao Tourism and Haflong Municipal Board for their continuous encouragement
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of eminent dignitaries:

The Cherry Blossom Plantation Drive not only inaugurated the Trivia Fest 2025 – Third Edition but also planted seeds of hope, growth, and community harmony, ushering in the festival with beauty, purpose, and promise.
Day 1 – Inter-School Literary Competitions – A Festival of Intellect
The first day of Trivia Fest 2025 began on an inspiring note with a vibrant lineup of Inter-School Literary Competitions, held at the Vivekananda Vidyalya High School, Haflong. Various schools from across the district participated enthusiastically, creating an atmosphere of curiosity, creativity, and friendly competition.
The day’s highlights included:
- Quiz Competition – testing knowledge and quick thinking
- Art Competition – showcasing imagination and visual storytelling
- Extempore Speech – encouraging confident and spontaneous expression
- Poetry Recitation – celebrating rhythm, emotion, and voice
Participants displayed exceptional creativity, critical thinking, and eloquence, truly embodying the festival’s spirit of intellectual exploration and holistic learning.
With each student showcasing immense creativity, confidence, and expression, the day turned into a celebration of young minds and educational brilliance. HELP Society extends sincere appreciation to all the students, teachers, judges, and volunteers whose dedication and enthusiasm made Day 1 a grand success. It was a day that celebrated not just competition, but also collaboration and the joy of learning.
Day 2 – Sports Day – Power, Passion & Performance
Day 2 of Trivia Fest 2025 celebrated the spirit of athleticism and camaraderie through an exciting Sports Meet, organized in collaboration with the Bagetar Gorkha Youth Club (BGYC). The event was held at the NL Daulagupu Sports Complex (DSA Ground), Haflong, on the 16th May 2025, and saw enthusiastic participation from students across the Dima Hasao district.
The day’s competitions included:
- Chess – testing strategic thinking
- 100-Metre Sprint – highlighting speed and stamina
- Tug of War – building unity and strength
- Shot Put – showcasing power and technique
The sports activities fostered discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence, offering a platform for young participants to showcase their talents beyond academics.

Grand Finale – Cultural Gala & Prize Distribution
The grand culmination of Trivia Fest 2025 was held at the Cultural Institute Hall, Haflong, where an enchanting evening of cultural performances, felicitations, and community celebration brought the festival to a memorable close.

- Prize distribution for the winners of the literary and sports competitions held on May 14 and May 16, respectively

One of the most cherished moments of Trivia Fest 2025 was the felicitation of local talents and achievers who have made Dima Hasao proud at the district, state, national, and international levels. This included:
- Taekwondo and Karate champions
- HSLC District Topper
- Local artists and cultural icons
- Social media influencers who uplift and inspire
- Physical instructors and mentors
- Judges and supporters who guided the event’s success
Their stories of passion, perseverance, and achievement deeply inspired the crowd.
Socially Impactful Drama: “Ek Kadam Sudhar Ki Aur”
One of the most memorable highlights of Trivia Fest 2025 was the emotionally charged and socially impactful drama titled “Ek Kadam Sudhar Ki Aur”, presented by the incredibly talented Drama Group of Vivekananda Vidyalaya High School.
The performance tackled two of the most pressing issues in contemporary society—drug abuse and women empowerment—through a beautifully woven narrative that was as thought-provoking as it was moving. The young performers showcased exceptional acting skills, deep emotional expression, and mature storytelling, leaving the audience in complete awe.
The story followed a young girl’s journey as she confronted the harsh realities of addiction in her own family while simultaneously striving to break free from the chains of societal oppression. Through bold dialogues, symbolic gestures, and a powerful climax, the play shed light on how drug addiction destroys not only individuals but also families and communities, while emphasizing the unbreakable spirit of women who rise despite adversity.
The drama received thunderous applause and a standing ovation, with many in the audience visibly moved by the compelling message. It served as a heartfelt reminder that youth, when empowered through education and the arts, can be a formidable force for societal change.
By using theatre as a medium, the students proved that awareness campaigns don’t always need posters or lectures—sometimes, a well-told story can ignite deeper reflection and inspire real transformation.
This performance stood as a testament to the role that schools, educators, and platforms like Trivia Fest play in encouraging creative expression with a purpose. “Ek Kadam Sudhar Ki Aur” was more than a drama; it was a call to action, and it undoubtedly left a lasting impact on everyone present.

Winners from the literary (May 14) and sports events (May 16) were felicitated with medals, trophies, and certificates. The prize ceremony was a culmination of hard work, talent, and joyful celebration.
