25.09.2026 | Haflong, Dima Hasao: HELP Society (Helping Everyone Live and Prosper Society), in collaboration with the National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC), Department of Health & Family Welfare, Dima Hasao, organised a Dengue cum Malaria Awareness Camp along with an Art and Speech Competition on the Prevention of Dengue and Malaria at Dolaichunga M.E. School, Harangajao under the Maharajpur Cluster.
The programme brought together students and teachers from around 8–10 schools of the Maharajpur Cluster, creating an interactive platform to spread awareness about dengue and malaria and the importance of preventing mosquito-borne diseases.
The awareness session focused on simple but important preventive measures, including mosquito control, maintaining cleanliness in and around homes and schools, preventing stagnant water from accumulating, and taking timely precautions against dengue and malaria.
For HELP Society, the programme was also an opportunity to engage directly with students and encourage them to become messengers of health awareness within their families and communities.
Health Officials Join the Awareness Programme
The programme was attended by Shri Randhir Dey, Healthcare Skill Development Resource Person, Harangajao PHC, and Shri Bulmen Hrangkhol, Sanitary Inspector, Malaria Department, Harangajao PHC.
Their presence and interaction with the students helped make the awareness programme more informative and engaging. The President and Secretary of the School Management Committee (SMC), Dolaichunga M.E. School, were also present during the programme.
The participation of healthcare personnel provided students with an opportunity to learn more about dengue and malaria, how these diseases spread and the role that communities can play in preventing their transmission.
Students Take Part in Art and Speech Competition
Along with the awareness session, students participated in art and speech competitions based on the prevention of dengue and malaria.
The activities gave students an opportunity to express their understanding of mosquito-borne diseases in a creative way while reinforcing the key messages of the awareness campaign.
The programme was further enlivened by wonderful performances by the students. Their enthusiasm, confidence and active participation added to the spirit of the event and made the day more enjoyable for everyone present.
Appreciation for Schools and Coordinators
HELP Society NGO sincerely appreciates the entire school authority of Dolaichunga M.E. School for their cooperation, support and arrangements for the programme.
Special thanks were also extended to Shri Manohar Thaosen, Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC), Maharajpur Cluster, for his valuable coordination and support.
HELP Society also acknowledged the contribution of Shri Uday Nirola, Assistant Teacher, Jatinga Public M.E. School, and Shri Arun Chetri, Assistant Teacher, Kalimabong M.E. School, for their support in coordinating the programme.
The active involvement of teachers, participating schools and students played an important role in making the awareness camp meaningful and successful.
Working Together to Prevent Dengue and Malaria
Dengue and malaria remain important public health concerns, and awareness at the community and school level can play an important role in prevention. Programmes like this help young people understand the importance of keeping their surroundings clean, reducing mosquito breeding sites and adopting healthy preventive practices.
