28.02.2026, Haflong, Dima Hasao || The District Level Eco-Hackathon cum Exhibition in Dima Hasao was successfully organised by HELP Society (Helping Everyone Live and Prosper Society), the District Nodal Agency (DNA) for the Environment Education Programme (EEP), Dima Hasao, at the Cultural Institute Hall, Haflong. The event was conducted under the Environment Education Programme, implemented by the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC), Science & Technology Department, Government of Assam, and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.

40 Schools Participate in Eco-Hackathon Dima Hasao

The District Level Eco-Hackathon in Haflong witnessed active participation from 40 schools across Dima Hasao. Each school was represented by two student innovators along with one teacher-in-charge. Students presented innovative environmental models focusing on climate action, renewable energy, solid waste management, water conservation, and sustainable eco-friendly solutions.

The programme was graced by the District Commissioner of Dima Hasao, Munindra Nath Ngatey, who appreciated the innovative spirit of the students and praised HELP Society for successfully organising the District Level Eco-Hackathon under the Environment Education Programme.

Speaking at the event, Surojeet Das, District Coordinator of the Environment Education Programme (EEP), Dima Hasao and President of Helping Everyone Live and Prosper Society (HELP Society), stated that the Eco-Hackathon is not merely a competition but a meaningful platform to promote responsible thinking, innovation, and environmental leadership among students in Dima Hasao.

He emphasised the importance of strengthening Eco-Clubs in schools and promoting practical environmental education at the grassroots level. He further reaffirmed HELP Society’s commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious youth under the Environment Education Programme implemented by the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.

The projects at the Eco-Hackathon cum Exhibition were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Shri Ronit Dey, Shri Uday Nirola, and Miss Joya Chetri. The evaluation was conducted based on innovation, feasibility, sustainability, and clarity of presentation.

The structured assessment process ensured fairness and encouraged quality environmental innovation among participating schools in Dima Hasao.

Winners of District Level Eco-Hackathon 2026 – Dima Hasao

Dibarai High School, Haflong secured the First Prize at the District Level Eco-Hackathon. Kashipur M.E. School was awarded the Second Prize, while Saraswati Vidya Mandir secured the Third Prize.

All 40 participating schools received certificates in recognition of their commendable contribution to environmental innovation and sustainable thinking under the Environment Education Programme in Dima Hasao.
